V roku 2012, po nástupe Ficovej vlády, si totiž nahnevaní učitelia vynútili ostrý štrajk. Ondekove školské odbory akciu formálne podporili. Reálne však bolo všetko inak. Ondek a odbory po rokovaniach s Ficom zo štrajku vycúvali. A štrajkujúcich učiteľov podrazili. Bez toho, aby s vládou vyrokovali záväzný program zvyšovania platov.

Die Business Alliance of Slovakia (PAS) veröffentlichte jüngst eine Studie, wonach bereits über 300.000 Slowaken im Ausland arbeiten. Hinzu kommen 30.000 Studenten, die im Ausland studieren. Einer Umfrage zufolge wollen fast 70 Prozent der im Ausland lebenden Slowaken nicht in ihre Heimat zurückkehren

A Russian court on Wednesday sentenced a blogger to five years in jail for what it said was his extremist activity on the Internet after he urged people to attend a protest against high transport fares and criticised Russian intervention in Ukraine. Vadim Tyumenstev, 35, from the Siberian region of Tomsk, was also banned from using the Internet for three years in a case which Russian human rights activists said violated his rights to a proper defence.
